Now as a side note, we loved Santorini, but we went in the shoulder season and stayed in Oia so we could enjoy it outside of the crazy busy hours.

- “Most overcrowded place I have ever been. Food is meh. Locals are understandably unfriendly and fed up of mass tourism. Nothing to do other than take pictures of the white buildings (impossible to get one without other people in it). Hyped beyond belief.”
- “It’s very touristy. It’s also very expensive. It’s popular for a reason and the views are incredible, but you’re not going to experience much Greek culture there.”
- “The island is 100% focused on tourism—you barely contact locals that aren’t working in tourism, no cultural sites, no genuine nightlife.”

- “Especially Pantai Cenang is just awful, but there are also some nice beaches. Everything except alcohol is expensive and sub par quality. Overall, it being a bit boring compared to other destinations.”
- “The water isn’t as blue or crystal clear as the islands in the east. Food wise, there aren’t many good local options. Then pairing it with 4 stars and below hotels not being maintained properly, cements the idea that Langkawi is not value for money.”
